Australia's major airlines have updated their power bank rules, effective December 2025. The changes apply to Qantas, Jetstar, QantasLink, and Virgin Australia.

The Rules

How many: Up to 2 power banks per person

Capacity: 160Wh or below per unit

Where to pack: Carry-on only — not checked baggage

Onboard use: Not permitted during the flight

Storage on the plane: Keep them accessible. Virgin Australia specifically requires power banks under the seat or in the seat pocket — not in overhead lockers.

Why These Rules Have Changed

These updates are part of the airlines' regular safety improvements and bring their policies in line with international guidelines.
